JuneteenthConf, Unl. ("JuneteenthConf," "we," "our") operates juneteenthconf.com and related subdomains. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and your rights regarding it.

When you sign up for our newsletter, register for the conference, or submit a volunteer or speaker inquiry, we collect:
- Name and email address
- Phone number (volunteer form, optional)
- Preferences and notes you choose to share
Analytics data
We use Umami, a privacy-first analytics platform hosted on our own
infrastructure at analytics.juneteenthconf.com. Umami does not use cookies
and does not collect personally identifiable information. It collects:
- Page URL and referrer
- Browser type and operating system (aggregated)
- Country-level location (derived from IP, not stored)
- Session duration and page interactions
No persistent identifiers are stored on your device. No data is shared with third parties. No cookie consent banner is required.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Send conference updates, speaker announcements, and registration information
- Coordinate volunteer participation
- Improve the website and understand visitor behavior (analytics only)
- Respond to inquiries
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Email Communications
We manage our mailing lists using Listmonk, self-hosted on our own
infrastructure at mail.juneteenthconf.com. Email delivery is handled via
Microsoft Azure Communication Services. Your email address is used only for
JuneteenthConf communications and is never shared with third parties.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. You may also request removal at any time by emailing info@juneteenthconf.com.
4. Data Retention
Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Analytics data is retained for 24 months in aggregate form and contains no personal identifiers.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of your data
- Opt out of email communications at any time
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

6. Third-Party Services
We use the following services in operating this site:
- Microsoft Azure — hosting, email delivery infrastructure
- GitHub — static site deployment via GitHub Actions
- Google Fonts — font files served locally; no Google requests at runtime

We may update this policy as our practices change. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
